Beniam Daniel Darge earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arba Minch University and a Master of Science in Mental Health from Jimma University in Ethiopia. In addition, he is an Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute, University of California San Francisco, a program focused on enhancing care for people with dementia globally. 

 

Beniam aspires to be a clinical neuropsychologist and is passionate about community-based participatory research. His research interests center on social determinants of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias in underserved communities, exploring these factors at the individual, household, environmental, and structural levels. Previously, he served as a lecturer and research faculty at Arba Minch University, leading the mental health unit and conducting several research and implementation projects. He also has experience in coordinating mental health services for refugees and displaced persons in Ethiopia. In 2023, Beniam was selected as a Mandela Washington Fellow for Young African leaders.
